"The Paradox: Power Dynamics vs. Unity Rhetoric in Black Online Projects, Businesses, and Groups"
While advocating for ideals such as 'Black love' and unity, it's intriguing to observe that some Black social network group admins and business leaders often exhibit a notable level of strictness, restrictiveness, and uncooperativeness. It's as if they are wielding power with a certain newfound authority or perhaps experiencing a form of power intoxication. The irony arises when the rhetoric of unity clashes with the apparent stringent nature of these online spaces.
The advent of the internet has allowed us to scrutinise human behaviour through data – what we support, repost, and whose work we share, even in criticism. This digital transparency raises questions about whether our online conduct aligns with the proclaimed values of unity and love within the Black community.
It prompts reflection on whether the observed authoritarian tendencies are a reflection of human nature or a specific manifestation within certain online spaces and business environments.
