Ancient Divine Mysticism or Advanced Technology? The Pillar of Cloud, Fire and Unidentified Rocker-Bogie Suspension System Aerial vehicles
The Bible is rich with accounts of mysterious events, many of which defy conventional understanding. One of the most fascinating is the description of the "pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night" that guided the Israelites during their exodus from Egypt (Exodus 13:21-22).
The sight, which protected and led them, shares curious similarities with modern UFO sightings—especially phenomena like the World War II Foo Fighters.
Could these ancient accounts, interpreted through a lens of modern technology, suggest or explain something more extraterrestrial or technological?
The interesting parallels between these biblical and modern occurrences, offering a fresh perspective on historical events.
The Pillar of Cloud and Fire: Divine or Technological ?
In the book of Exodus, the "pillar of cloud by day" and "pillar of fire by night" were described as the god of Israel's way of guiding the Israelites through the wilderness. By day, the cloud provided direction and perhaps protection from the harsh desert sun.
By night, the fiery pillar illuminated their route. From a modern perspective, it is not far fetched to ask whether these ancient accounts could be describing something other than divine —possibly an advanced technology unfamiliar to the people of the time.
Modern Unidentified Aerial vehicle sightings often describe glowing orbs or lights, frequently reported in association with clouds or hidden within them, much like the "pillar of cloud." For instance, many reports describe Unidentified Aerial vehicles "cloaking" themselves within clouds or using them for camouflage, splitting into separate light balls ETC. In this context, one could easily think that the biblical description of a guiding cloud and a fire could be ancient attempts to describe similar phenomena—a potential craft or a non terrestrial technology employing visual concealment or light manipulation.
This is in sync with some military tactics even today. Fighter pilots use clouds for cover during combat, hiding behind them to evade detection or surprise their enemies. It's possible that ancient observers, like the Israelites, interpreted what could have been advanced aerial technology in the only way they knew—through the lens of divine intervention.
Moses' Encounter with the God of Israel: A Closer Look
Moses is central to the biblical narrative, particularly his unique encounters with the god of Israel. One of the most profound moments comes when Moses ascends Mount Sinai to meet his god, receiving the commandments that would guide the Israelites. What is fascinating is Moses' physical transformation after this encounter. In the book of Exodus (Exodus 34:29-35), Moses' face is described as glowing, forcing him to wear a veil because the Israelites were afraid to approach him. This radiant change could be viewed through modern eyes as a possible result of exposure to some form of radiation.
If one were to entertain the notion of advanced extraterrestrial technology, the glowing face of Moses might be likened to radiation exposure from a powerful technological source. In today's understanding, exposure to radiation from advanced machinery or technology could lead to similar symptoms, such as skin changes or a "glow." This begs the question: could Moses' encounter have been with something technological, perhaps misinterpreted as divine?
Moses' Request to See God: Technology or Divinity?
In Exodus 33:18-23, Moses asks to see God’s glory, but he is instructed to stand in the cleft of a rock while God’s presence passes by. He is only allowed to see God’s "back" but not His face, as no one can see it and live. This description is curious because it introduces a mechanical-like limitation. Why couldn’t Moses see God’s face? Could this be an interaction with a being or object with limitations that resemble those of advanced machinery?
This passage, combined with the account of Moses' glowing face, opens the door to speculation. Some UAV theorists, such as Erich von Däniken, suggest that ancient texts may describe extraterrestrial encounters in ways that ancient people could comprehend.
Von Däniken even famously interpreted Ezekiel’s vision of the "wheel within a wheel" (Ezekiel 1:16) as a possible description of advanced technology. Interestingly, NASA engineers later drew inspiration from this "wheel within a wheel" concept when developing components for the Mars Rover.
Mars Rover Wheel Design
The wheels of NASA’s Mars Rovers (such as Spirit, Opportunity, Curiosity, and Perseverance) were developed based on the need for robust, all-terrain vehicles capable of traversing the rugged and rocky Martian surface. These wheels needed to be durable, lightweight, and capable of providing stability and traction over uneven terrain.
Rover Wheel Structure: The Mars Rovers use six wheels arranged in pairs on a rocker-bogie suspension system. This system allows the wheels to work independently, enabling the vehicle to handle obstacles and rough terrain. Each wheel is equipped with cleats to provide better grip on the loose Martian soil.
Turning and Movement: One similarity between Ezekiel’s description and the Rover’s movement could be seen in how the Rovers can pivot and move in different directions thanks to their rocker-bogie suspension system. This allows the Rover to adjust its posture and orientation without needing to turn in the traditional sense, somewhat reminiscent of Ezekiel’s vision where the wheels moved without needing to change direction.
The "Wheel within a Wheel" in Context
Ezekiel’s description of the "wheel within a wheel" in his vision has been interpreted in many ways throughout history, ranging from supernatural descriptions to technological possibilities. Some theorists suggested that Ezekiel’s vision could describe ancient encounters with advanced technology, perhaps extraterrestrial.
However many people disagree and insist that in reality, NASA's design for the Mars Rover wheels was a product of rigorous engineering focused on the challenges of Martian exploration, rather than any direct inspiration from biblical or ancient descriptions. The connection is more of a cultural interpretation than a scientific one.
The Seventy Elders and the God of Israel
Moses wasn't the only one who had an encounter with the divine. In Exodus 24:9-11, Moses, along with Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and seventy elders of Israel, ascended Mount Sinai and saw the God of Israel. They described a pavement of sapphire beneath His feet, which has a modern parallel in descriptions of a glowing or luminescent craft or object hovering above the ground. While the text emphasizes the supernatural, such descriptions, when compared with modern Unidentified Aerial vehicle sightings, might lead some to consider technological interpretations of these events. Could the sapphire-like appearance beneath God’s feet be a description of some kind of landing gear or light-emitting surface?
Theoretical Parallels with Modern UAV Sightings
When considering these biblical accounts in light of modern UAV phenomena, the parallels are striking. Just as Foo Fighters during World War II were described as glowing orbs that followed planes, the "pillar of fire by night" could be seen as a similar type of light-emitting craft. Furthermore, just as modern-day UAV sightings often report objects hidden within or using clouds, the "pillar of cloud" may have served as a form of cloaking or camouflage for whatever was guiding the Israelites.
What adds further weight to this comparison is the context of UAV sightings today. Many military pilots and witnesses have described UAV's as objects that are luminous, that appear to defy gravity, and that seem to use the natural environment, such as clouds, to their advantage. Could the ancient Israelites have been witnessing similar advanced phenomena?
Ancient Mysticism or Advanced Technology?
While it is impossible to know for certain whether the "pillar of cloud by day and fire by night" was divine or technological, the similarities between these biblical accounts and modern UAV sightings are worth considering.
Human beings, whether in ancient or modern times, often interpret unexplained phenomena through the lens of their own understanding and experiences.
In Moses' time, unfamiliar technology might have been viewed as divine power. In our time, we speculate about extraterrestrial craft.
