" Crawling in the Name of Faith? Reason ? " What kind of celestial ego-trip is this humiliation? Taking The Piss Out Of Us - ''Human Beings'',

A line of human beings, faces pressed against the icy ground, bodies covered in dirt and snow, crawling on all fours like obedient pets. It's not a scene from some dystopian movie, nor is it a bizarre initiation rite from a hidden jungle tribe.

This is a real-world religious practice, where devotees prostrate themselves over miles, enduring bone-chilling snow, jagged rocks, and burning sun, all to prove their faith or accumulate "spiritual merit."

To a modern observer, this sight is heart-wrenching. To someone peering from an aerial perspective—perhaps through the lens of a drone or YouTube video—it's nothing short of absurd.

And to any so-called "loving" deity worth their salt, it would be nothing less than cruel.

But political correctness? That sworn guardian of all things archaic and untouchable? It keeps most people silent.

The Crawling: Is This Faith Or Taking The Piss Out  Humanity?

Tibetan Vajrayana tradition, endorses prostration as a form of devotion and purification. Pilgrims often crawl hundreds of miles, body-slamming themselves to the ground in a repetitive ritual that is both physically grueling and spiritually glorified. It's not just a fleeting fad; it's institutionalized, applauded, and immortalized in stories of extreme piety, consider this with even a shred of common sense: crawling?

In the snow? On gravel and stones?

Any loving parent wouldn’t demand their child worship them, let alone by scraping themselves raw against the earth.

What kind of celestial ego-trip is this humiliation?

From the Sky, It’s Mockery; On the Ground, It’s Low Self-Esteem

Modern psychology offers an opinion into such practices. Dr. Albert Bandura’s concept of "learned helplessness" comes to mind—where individuals subjected to repetitive suffering eventually accept it as their reality.

Crawl long enough, and you'll believe you deserve to crawl. These acts of "faith" are less about enlightenment and more about submission—an extreme version of kneeling that dehumanizes rather than uplifts.

To any non-psychotic observer, especially from the aerial perspective that modern technology affords us, the sight is almost comedic in its absurdity.

Alien or human, a visitor from the stars might mistake these scenes for satire, mocking an uneducated, stone-age populace that confused their advanced visitors with gods. If the crawling is a message, it's one of degradation, not devotion.

Crawling as Culture: The Role of Tibetan Feudalism

Let’s not forget that this practice flourished under a feudal theocracy where lamas and priests held untouchable power. The prostrating masses were the uneducated, impoverished peasants—taught that salvation lay not in self-empowerment or education, but in servile suffering  - dharma, karma.

This wasn’t spirituality; it was control. Political and religious leaders exploited such practices to cement their dominance over a populace too downtrodden and uneducated to question. And yet, this grotesque spectacle continues as you read, protected by the untouchable halo of "tradition." Call it what it is: exploitation masquerading as faith.

"Crawling in the Name of Faith: A Savage Relic in the Age of Reason"

Picture this: a line of human beings, faces pressed against the icy ground, bodies covered in dirt and snow, crawling on all fours like obedient pets. It's not a scene from some dystopian movie, nor is it a bizarre initiation rite from a hidden jungle tribe. This is a real-world religious practice, championed by Tibetan Buddhism, where devotees prostrate themselves over miles, enduring bone-chilling snow, jagged rocks, and burning sun, all to prove their faith or accumulate "spiritual merit."

To a modern observer with a conscience, this sight is heart-wrenching. Not today.

The Crawling Conundrum: Is This Faith or a Mockery of Humanity?

Tibetan Buddhism, particularly within the Vajrayana tradition, endorses prostration as a form of devotion and purification. Pilgrims often crawl hundreds of miles, body-slamming themselves to the ground in a repetitive ritual that is both physically grueling and spiritually glorified. It's not just a fleeting fad; it's institutionalized, applauded, and immortalized in stories of extreme piety.

But step back and consider this with even a shred of common sense: crawling? In the snow? On gravel and stones? Any loving parent wouldn’t demand their child worship them, let alone by scraping themselves raw against the earth. What kind of celestial ego-trip mandates such humiliation?

From the Sky, It’s Mockery; On the Ground, It’s Low Self-Esteem

Modern psychology offers scathing insight into such practices. Dr. Albert Bandura’s concept of "learned helplessness" comes to mind—where individuals subjected to repetitive suffering eventually accept it as their reality. A God’s Love or a Tyrant’s Demand?

Let’s bring this down to basics. If we’re to believe in a deity—whether framed as a god, a universal consciousness, or parental figure—what kind of love demands groveling in the dirt? As parents, would we demand our children crawl miles to prove their love? Of course not. That’s not love; it’s abuse.

The idea of worship itself, if stripped of critical thinking, devolves into savagery when it demands suffering as proof of faith. And yet, billions are taught not to question this. To criticize is blasphemy; to laugh at the absurdity is heresy. Well, blasphemy or not, let’s call it: a god who finds merit in crawling doesn’t deserve worship. Taking The Piss.

Human beings are capable of incredible faith, compassion, and devotion. But crawling on all fours? It’s time to stop romanticizing such practices as “spiritual.”

They’re not. They’re relics of oppression, these are cruel, wicked, archaic hierarchies and ideas  shackling us backwards to the abattoir, stand upright as a species worthy of whatever divine love, crawling?
