The Straitjacket of Historical Honour/ Chivalry, The Injustice, The Audacity:

A Rebuttal to White Supremacy

White supremacists who claim the superiority of the white race over others display a profound mental deficiency, similar to a cowardly boxer declaring victory over an opponent who has been forced into a straitjacket.

This metaphor succinctly captures the perverse nature of such claims, especially when considered in the context of the historical and ongoing oppression of Black people. Throughout history, systemic atrocities, manipulation, and exploitation have placed Black people in a position of forced disadvantage, making any claim of racial superiority not just morally reprehensible but also intellectually bankrupt.

The Historical Context of Black Oppression

The transatlantic slave trade is one of the most heinous chapters in human history, where millions of Africans were forcibly uprooted from their homelands, transported under inhumane conditions, and sold into a life of brutality. The legacy of slavery did not end with its abolition; rather, it morphed into new forms of oppression, such as the Jim Crow laws in the United States, which enforced racial segregation and disenfranchisement well into the 20th century. The lingering effects of slavery and segregation have continued to straitjacket the progress of Black communities, leaving deep scars that persist today.

One of the most egregious examples of post-slavery oppression in the United States is the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment. Conducted between 1932 and 1972 by the U.S. Public Health Service, this study injected and deceived hundreds of Black men with syphilis, led them into believing they were receiving free healthcare, when in reality they were being observed to study the progression of the disease.

These men were denied proper treatment even after penicillin became widely available, leading to needless suffering and death. This atrocity is a stark reminder of the lengths to which systemic racism can go to exploit and harm Black people.

Another appalling example is the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, often referred to as the "Burning of Black Wall Street." The thriving Black community in the Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma, known as "Little Africa," was destroyed by a white mob.

Planes were used to drop incendiary devices, obliterating homes and businesses and killing an unknown number of Black residents. This atrocity was not only an act of racial hatred but also a deliberate attempt to cripple Black economic progress. Yet, white supremacists continue to claim superiority in a world where the playing field has been violently tilted in their favor.

Coup d'États and Neocolonialism in Africa

The straitjacket metaphor extends beyond the United States to the African continent, where European powers and agencies have repeatedly orchestrated or supported coups to overthrow leaders who threatened Western interests. These actions have perpetuated instability and underdevelopment in Africa, ensuring that the continent remains a pawn in global power dynamics.

For instance, the 1961 assassination of Patrice Lumumba, the first democratically elected Prime Minister of the Republic of Congo, was orchestrated with the support of Belgian and U.S. intelligence agencies. Lumumba sought to free his country from colonial exploitation, but his vision was cut short by foreign powers who feared the loss of control over Congo's rich natural resources. Similarly, the 1983 coup in Upper Volta (now Burkina Faso), supported by France, overthrew President Thomas Sankara, a progressive leader who had implemented widespread reforms to reduce corruption, improve healthcare, and promote education. Sankara's vision of self-sufficiency and African unity was a threat to neocolonial interests, leading to his assassination.

These interventions have left Africa in a continuous state of arrested development, where leaders who truly represent the interests of their people are often removed or neutralized. Meanwhile, corrupt regimes are propped up by Western powers, creating a bipolar dynamic where the West publicly condemns corruption while simultaneously facilitating it through arms deals, financial aid, and political support for oppressive regimes. This ongoing hypocrisy further highlights the absurdity of white supremacist claims, as the so-called superiority is built on the deliberate weakening of other races and nations.

The Straitjacket of White Supremacy

In a normal world, where history is honestly reckoned with, white supremacists would be ashamed to claim superiority. Their so-called "victories" are the result of a rigged system, where the competition has been bound, gagged, and shackled. The straitjacket metaphor vividly illustrates this point: claiming superiority in such circumstances is not a testament to strength or intelligence, but rather an admission of cowardice and deceit.

The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment, the Tulsa Race Massacre, and the coups in Africa are not isolated incidents; they are part of a broader pattern of systemic oppression designed to keep Black people and other non-white populations in a perpetual state of disadvantage. To claim supremacy in the face of such historical and ongoing atrocities is not just morally bankrupt—it is intellectually indefensible.

White supremacy is a flawed ideology that crumbles under the weight of historical truth. The so-called superiority it touts is nothing more than a mirage, sustained by centuries of violence, deception, and exploitation.

In a just world, the proponents of such an ideology would be the first to recognize the shamefulness of their claims, understanding that their "victories" are hollow, built on the suffering and subjugation of others.

But as long as the straitjacket remains, the delusion of superiority will persist, exposing the profound mental deficiency at the heart of white supremacist ideology.
