The device, dubbed the "LaserLoo Las Loco Type 7", promises to not only eliminate the need for toilet paper but also drastically reduce the consumption of detergents used for logging stain removal, as one might imagine. However, this innovation has not been met with applause from all quarters.




 A spokesperson from the Global Toilet Paper Manufacturers Association said: "This is an attack on centuries of tradition! Think of the jobs, the economy! What will happen to our workforce, our shareholders? We're not just selling paper; we're selling a lifestyle, a comfort that no laser can replicate."

Indeed, the toilet paper industry, already reeling from the occasional shortages, is reportedly considering aggressive lobbying and possibly even legal action against Musk's CleanSweep. Meanwhile, detergent manufacturers are also feeling the squeeze, concerned about the drop in demand for their stain-removal products.

"This device could fundamentally alter hygiene habits. But there's a cultural aspect too. In Western societies, where toilet paper reigns supreme, this shift could be more than just a technological change; it's a cultural upheaval."




However, not all are up in arms. The global Muslim community, particularly those in regions like Nigeria where Hausa and Fulani communities are known colloquially as the "Kettle People" - not for their love of tea or coffee, but due to their traditional use of water for post-toilet hygiene - are largely indifferent to Musk's invention.

In Kano, Nigeria: "they've been using water technology on their religious derrière's for centuries; this is nothing new. If anything, it's amusing to see the rest of the world catch up."

 The practice of using water, known as "istinja" in Islamic hygiene, has long been advocated for its effectiveness and cleanliness, thus rendering the "LaserLoo" more of a novelty than a necessity in these communities.

While Musk's innovation shines a light on the future of personal hygiene, it's clear that the path to a toilet paper-free world is fraught with resistance, cultural differences, and the powerful inertia of established practices.
